Oregon Wine Country
The Willamette Valley
We enjoy one of the most pristine wine regions on earth. In this guide we cover wineries we recommend, restaurants from fine dining to the best burrito in the Valley, lodging partners, wine tour tips, itineraries, our AVA sub-regions and more. We encourage you to explore here and journey through both our grand Pinot estates and boutique hidden vineyards alike.
Seated between the Oregon coast to the West, the Columbia Gorge to the North, the Cascades, tributary rivers and highland deserts to the east and south, Willamette Valley is competing with an impressive part of the continent. However, where the Willamette Valley beats out all the competition is in fine winemaking. All thanks to our Terroir.
We have the perfect collection of cold/warm swings during the day and night, diverse and ranging soil profiles from volcanic rock and old growth forests, the right ebb and flow of elevation, the water needed from spring rains sustaining the fruit through to harvest. All these factors come together to create the perfect context in which grapes can thrive only by struggling, and as the vine roots dig down and mature, they produce complex and outright incredible wines that have put Oregon on the map as one of the greatest wine producers in the world. We owe so much to the men and women who pioneered Oregon winemaking after surveying the land, taking a risk, and working very hard. Now we enjoy what has emerged — a thriving wine and food scene that stretches through rolling vineyards, oak tree and Douglas-fir groves, with dirt roads which lead to 5-star restaurants.
This guide is meant to help all those who have come to enjoy the Willamette Valley. Our wine tour and wine country travel service is the product of years of building relationships. With over 700 wineries and so much to explore, we hope this guide will point visitors to experiences of interest and help you explore the best of the Willamette Valley wine country. Cheers!
