Willamette Valley · Oregon
This guide is for people exploring our wine region who are looking for both the top-tier fine wine producers, but also compelling stories and fun tasting experiences. Each winery on this list is markedly unique, yet each one is authentically Oregonian — and we hope you can one day visit them all.

Before we delve into specific wineries, it's important to have an introductory knowledge of the AVAs (American Viticultural Areas) of the Willamette Valley. An AVA denotes factors from soil components to elevation and weather, which all come together to produce a unique wine profile.
Why does a Willamette Valley Pinot taste like a Willamette Valley Pinot? You can spend a lifetime learning what goes into the soil affecting what is poured in your glass. Within the sweeping area of the Willamette Valley, there are 10 sub-AVAs nested in the greater valley. Each nested AVA denotes a specific micro-region with a unique profile which affects the wines produced there. That means a Dundee Hills Chardonnay will show differently than an Eola-Amity Chardonnay, which will show differently from a Chehalem Mountains Chardonnay, and so on. Here I've provided links to explore respective sources and learn more about all the wineries and unique winemaking properties these nested AVAs hold.
